ลักษณะ :

พืชล้มลุกอายุหลายปี เหง้าใต้ดินมีกลิ่นหอมคล้ายกลิ่นตะไคร้ลำต้นเทียมเหนือดิน สูง ๑ – ๑.๕ ม. ใบเดี่ยว เรียงสลับแผ่นใบรูปรี ดอกออกเป็นช่อจากเหง้าใต้ดิน ดอกสีขาว มีใบประดับรองรับ ผลรูปไข่กลับเมื่อแก่แล้วแตก ออกดอกช่วงเดือนพฤษภาคม – กรกฎาคม ขยายพันธุ์โดยการแยกเหง้าใต้ดิน

Characteristics :

Zingiber citridorum is a perennial herb. The rhizomes are aromatic which are smells like lemongrass. Leaves simple, alternate, ovate. Inflorescences developed from rhizome. Flowers are white, with bracts. Fruits obovoid, dehiscent. Flowering in May – July. This plant can be propagated by rhizome division.

เหง้าใช้รับประทานสดเป็นผักเคียง ช่อดอกอ่อนลวกรับประทานกับนํ้าพริก

Uses and Utilization :

The rhizome are eaten fresh as a side dish. The young inflorescences are fast-boiled and served with chilli sauces.
